The Mind Shines Bright
in The Playoffs.
It was well documented how much
the Chicago Cubs have struggled
early in the NLCS with hitting.
Facing Clayton Kershaw and Rich Hill
will do that to you.
Joe Maddon says his talk with Chicago
Cubs shortstop Addison Russell
went something like this.
DO SIMPLE BETTER!
His point was he wanted Russell
to simplify his approach at the plate
and NOT over complicate the process.
Specifically Maddon talks about how
it's natural when hitters start to slump,
the first instinct is to over complicate
The more you complicate the more
you will slump.
So the question is what does your
kid do to simplify the process when
he starts to struggle?
If your a coach what do you do to
help your players who begin
Are you encouraging them
to DO SIMPLE BETTER ?
Or are you a part of the process
that complicates the matter?
Bruce Lee Once Said -
"Simplicity is the key to brilliance"
Most assume because something is
simple it can't possibly be brilliant.
At Fastball USA we have sharpened
our focus on how the mind impacts
The mind impacts swing mechanics.
The mind impacts the timing.
The mind impacts the results.
This is a fact for every phase of the
game including our pitchers, and
At Fastball USA
1. We start with the mind in everything
we do. What is going through the mind is
strongly impacting everything.
2. Failure is guaranteed. Are you ready for it?
So the question is do you have a
process to adjust from failure to
a improved result?
3. Do you train Mindset/adjustments
built into your practices?
Everybody thinks mindset is
somebody sitting in room and
The mind driving performance
is at work all the time.
When a player is good he is being
athletic and aggressive.
When a player is going bad he begins
to think way too much which results
in less athleticism, and far less
I believe it doesn't stop with the players-
Watch the fans!
As a Chicago guy, I will watch the
NLCS this weekend observing
how the mind is impacting everything.
Not Just the players - watch the fans:
The Mind of the fans at Wrigley field
and the fans watching around the
world will impact the outcome of
Yes. The observers will strongly impact
With the Cubs struggling early this week
Joe Maddon said
" I refuse to take a trip to negative town"
I strongly recommend Cub Fans
do the same.
We Cub fans have
been in negative town since at least
The curse isn't about goats, or black
cats. The curse is all about the mind
of the player and the observer.
